You know those moments when you feel slightly (or maybe extremely) lazy and unmotivated?

Well, we agree that there are times when we’re just in desperate need of break. For instance, when we’re tired, sick, or in pain (physically and/or mentally). Or maybe when we just tried and did our best, accomplished our goals, or spent a very busy day, week, or month. There are certainly times when we really have to take a rest. Sleep, eat good food, drink plenty of water, stretch, move our body a little, meet people, and entertain ourselves. We deserve those things. We deserve a break.

However, we also agree that there are times when we procrastinate just out of unwillingness. We’re in a good condition and we haven’t done anything hard, yet we feel reluctant to touch that pile of works. We’re just mindlessly scrolling through social media, saying things like, “5 more minutes” when we actually sleep for another hour, or binge watching those Netflix shows. Maybe we haven’t even washed our face, brushed our teeth, taken a bath, or at least brushed our hair in the last 24 hours.

The thing is, sometimes we don’t want that to happen. We don’t want to procrastinate. We want to touch that pile of works. We hate slacking off. We know there’s something we have to do. We know we must spend our time doing something, anything. We know we must study, finish our assignment, work on our thesis, join a club, apply to that one internship opening, etc. But we somehow don’t. So, we wonder, “argh why am I like this?!”. We know we want it, but we don’t have enough drive.

Can you somehow (at least 1%) relate to that kind of situation?

If yes, then I’m here to help.

I heard this a lot: self-discipline works better than motivation. Sometimes I agree with it. When we have developed a habit, when we have become quite a disciplined individual, we do things automatically. Don’t have to rely on motivation. Motivation comes and goes, you know. We can’t depend on it.

BUT I still think motivation is important. It makes our days feel more fun. It gives us reason and purpose. It makes life more enjoyable and more colorful. Basically, instead of making us doing things just out of routine, it gives us that drive.

So, that is what I’m going to talk about in this post. No, I’m not here to give you some motivational words. Instead, I’m here to let you know things that can motivate you.

There are so many things that can inspire us, you know? People, book, movie, music… YouTube videos.

In my previous blog post, I talked about some “friends” that encourage me to finish my thesis and one of them is productive-college-success story vlog. I also talked about how watching that type of vlogs, vlogs of people who are passionate about their academic lives and careers makes me want to be as cool as them. How watching productive people makes me want to be more productive too. There are even videos that really triggered me, that I literally paused the video to worked on my thesis right away. I didn’t mention the vlogs there so that I can mention it now.

So, here you go. These are some college YouTubers whose videos make you want to get out of your bed and start studying or working on your tasks. Enjoy!

1. Macerly

London-based college senior. Shares university and study tips for fellow college students, as well as vlogs that motivate you to study, be more productivity, and still living the life. I love the way she explains things. So crunchy and ASMR-like. I also love how her videos are fast paced. It’s inspiring in a very fun way.

A Korean who studied at Korea University, but recently moved to London. Not only that she posts college-related tips, like time management, productivity, and study tips, but she also posts vlogs that show her life as a college student, her wellness routine, and her social life. She really is the epitome of cool and pretty girl who do well on her academic life. She also looks so brave, smart, and confident. Not to mention, she speaks so eloquently. LOVE!

3. Unjaded Jade

I started to watch Jade’s videos because I talk about StudyTube for my undergrad thesis. But I ended up fall in love with her. She’s a college senior. Just like the previous two, she also shares tips and vlogs that can motivate us to do better. Her passion for studying is so stunning, makes me want to be a straight As student myself. Her videos also radiate this comforting vibe.

4. Vanessa Tiiu

Her videos make me want to take a better care of myself and get my life together. Her days seem so organized which motivate me to really get up and start do things. She’s also so sweet, guys. Again, LOVE!
